Be dazzled by Charroux Abbey's treasure trove of ancestral relics!
A priceless treasure
In 1045, there were over 70 relics.
Some were of particular importance, such as relics from the life of Christ, the True Cross and even a relic of Christ's body, his Holy Prepuce. And that's just the beginning!
These relics are preserved in cases called reliquaries.
Some were discovered during masonry work, along with other objects, in a wall of the cloister (in 1856) and even in tombs (in 1949).
You can admire them today in the abbey.
