Living in the abbey: architecture for a rhythmic life withdrawn from the world

The workshop is divided into several phases. On the one hand, faced with an architecture that has evolved considerably since the Middle Ages, the first challenge is to understand the spatial organization of the abbey, and then restore its volumes. To help students visualize elevations, they can build models of arches and vaults, then a span of a church nave. These teaching aids will help them understand the function and importance of each architectural element. The second challenge is to understand the organization of the religious community. The use of a time scale will enable students to compare their day with that of a monk. Workshop - 1H30.
